Piezosurgery in dentistry
At present, piezosurgery is the most modern method for various surgical manipulations (tooth extraction or removal, replanting of osteoplastic material, teeth implantation).
All necessary tissue incisions are made with special ultrasound tip ensuring precision and favourable prognosis of surgical intervention. During ultrasound incisions the surrounding soft tissues, vessels and nerves are not damaged. Indication for this method use is any surgical intervention: tooth removal, implantation, sinus-lifting, etc.
Ultrasound makes incisions of soft and hard tissues in oral cavity. Wide range of this method capacity allows performing incision of tooth hard tissues of various diameters. This technique advantage is that ultrasound does not contact with tissues during surgical manipulation. Ultrasound waves cut hard tissues without damaging soft tissues.
Before piezosurgery in stomatology special boring machines were used for such type of surgery. However, for patients this procedure was very painful and caused significant discomfort. Due to its effect on tissues at distance piezosurgical apparatus allows conducting manipulations even in the most hard-to-reach zones.
Thus, during this method use only minimal damage of oral cavity soft tissues happens. Also, after piezotomal apparatus use we can talk about absence of oedema and haemorrhage, and consequently, about rehabilitation period shortening. Ultrasound also has antibacterial action, and thus the additional antiseptic processing of wound surface takes place. One of the major advantages of this technique is high precision of surgery and possibility to interfere even in the most remote places.
